In a commanding performance at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday, October 24, Manchester City cruised to a 5-0 victory against Czech side Sparta Prague. Phil Foden broke the deadlock early, with City adding four more goals in the second half to seal their dominant win.
Haaland continued his goal-scoring form, netting twice in quick succession during the second half. His first came in the 58th minute, followed by another just four minutes later. John Stones also headed home a goal in the 64th minute, while a late penalty from Matheus Nunes completed the rout in the 88th minute.
City’s Champions League Journey and Haaland’s Record
This emphatic win sees Manchester City climb to third place in the group stage standings with seven points from three games. Meanwhile, Sparta Prague struggles near the bottom of the table with just four points from their campaign so far.
Haaland’s brace brought his total to 21 goals in 23 Champions League appearances for City. The only player to have scored 20 goals for a club in fewer appearances is Ruud van Nistelrooy, who netted 20 goals in just 21 games for Manchester United.
